Every day a whopping 500 million people use Instagram stories. That, in turn, leads to 60% of the businesses inculcating an interactive element or feature to enhance the monthly engagement rate. One of such interactive elements is the use of Augmented Reality (AR) filters in Instagram stories. Sounds an ultra-future thing, well it is not. In fact, AR filters for products in stories have been in the game 2017. Even, there has been innovation and revelation by the feature.

These filters are powered by the unprecedented powered by AR and generated by tech. Now, these are effects that layer or apply to a real-life object or image that the camera displays. For instance, let us think from the perspective of a business selling jewelry. The business will create an AR filter for a certain product, suppose a pearl necklace. Now, as the user will select the filter on the business' Instagram account, the camera will open, and the app will put the necklace on the user's neck.

In 2017, when Instagram incorporated AR into its stories for products, various brands jumped on the bandwagon. Notable ones are Coca-Cola, Ray-Ban, Tiffany & Co., and Aritzia.

Step 1: Choose an Effect

Spark AR Studio provides you with an extensive range of effects and objects.

Step 2: Making the Filter

Now, find the placeholder object on the panel at the center. This placeholder object is also referred to as a viewport.

Next, there will be an iPhone there on the right corner. This is a simulator that allows you to preview your work. On the left-hand side, there will be a scene panel. This includes options to edit your AR filter.

Step 3: Uploading a 3D Asset

For this, you have two options. First, you can get a 3D asset from Spark AR Studio’s own library. You can also get animated clips and audio files. On the other hand, you can upload one of your own as well.

Step 4: Behavior Settings for the 3D Asset

After you have uploaded your asset, it is now time to set how it will perform. For this, you can choose options from the scene panel. You can select how it will move, respond, and interact. Moreover, you can alter the color and sizes. You can even add more elements as well.

Step 5: Publish your AR Filter through Instagram

After you are done with the editing, it is now time to publish your filter. You will see an upload button in the left-hand corner. Please remember that your filter will go through an evaluation process by Spark AR Studio before it is published.

Now, with this simple systematic process, you can easily create an AR filter on Instagram for your product. Make sure that your AR filter compliments your product in the best manner. Enjoy your AR filters on Instagram!
